Rowtex was founded in Ottensheim, close to the city of Linz and on the Danube River. Back in the 1970s, the municipality built a water power plant and redirected the Danube, creating a lake without current - a perfect place for rowing! Soon after, the local WSV Ottensheim rowing club was founded and became home to many successful elite rowers.
The Regattastrecke Ottensheim, name of the rowing lake, is now a top-modern rowing site and host of the FISA World Rowing Championships 2019 and FISA Rowing World Cup 2018. Here, many rowers from Austria and Europe row on a daily basis. Ottensheim is a real hub for rowing with many rowing athletes, vloggers and bloggers.
Tobias, one of the ROWTEX founders, came up with the idea of customized rowing gloves years ago when he was a member of the Austrian Rowing Team. Today, ROWTEX draws inspiration and ideas from the many creative and active people in the rowing community.
